Checkpoint Charlie / 17. 1.
Checkpoint Charlie is a a choreography treating on the political situation in Germany, the splitting of Berlin in 1961. “I want my choreography to make both the dancers and the audience realize, at least to some extent, what it feels like to be split up. To be split up no matter by whom, when or in what situation...” (S. Kupcová) In the second half of the evening, Jan Brezina will present his small duet about small lies, about flattering oneself, about an ego that has become to big and the consequent fall. Through the Woods is a choreography inspired by a period in life full of experimenting with psychotropic substances. RESERVATION

Dance and concenptualism / Diamondance: Reloaded / 19. 1.
Diamondance: Reloaded is a piece for four dancers is based on a visual score as written by one of the most significant Czechoslovak conceptualist, a musicologist, Milan Adamčiak. In his visual graphic scores tones are not written in the traditional manner: a fact that brings new dimensions to the compositions. This creative procedure finally led Adamčiak, in the 60s, to writing visual poetry, object texts and space poems. His work in this realm laid foundations for the existence of contemporary dance in the Czechoslovakia. RESERVATION

3 questions for František Fabián, the director of the project Institute of Light Design (ISD)
What is the mission of the institute? What are its objectives?
The ISD aims at establishing a well working platform of education, contacts, and theoretical knowledge for both already working artists as well as for undergraduates. We try to interconnect the cultural sphere with commercial suppliers. We also provide advisory services and support the exchange of experience within the realm of light design, sound design, and video design. As far as our ideological objectives go, to put it simply, we would like to achieve the state of affairs when educational programmes at universities are complex and they bring up future professionals willing to co-operate across the artistic spectre. And I’m not talking only about light designers but also about production managers, scenic designers or directors.
